Prof. Dennis R. Young – Center for Nonprofit Policy & Practice - Cleveland State University - USA

Prof. Young helped establish the Mandel Center for Nonprofit Organizations at Case Western Reserve University and was its director and Mandel Professor of Nonprofit Management from 1988 to 1996. From 1972 to 1987, he was a Professor at the W. Averill Harriman School for Management and Policy. From 2005 to 2013, he directed the Nonprofit Studies Program in the Andrew Young School and held the Bernard B. and Eugenia A. Ramsey Chair of Private Enterprise.

A former President of the Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action (ARNOVA), Dr. Young received this organization’s Award for Distinguished Achievement and Leadership in Nonprofit and Voluntary Action Research in 2004. He was named to the NonProfit Times “Power and Influence Top 50” list in 2004 and received an honorary doctorate from the University of Liege in Belgium in 2010.

Dr. Young has written many scholarly articles and is editor and author of numerous books including Financing Nonprofits: Bridging Theory and Practice (2007) and the Handbook of Research on Nonprofit Economics and Management (2010, with Bruce Seaman). He is founding editor of the journal Nonprofit Management & Leadership, which he edited from 1990 through 2000, and founding and current editor of Nonprofit Policy Forum. In 2013 his seminal book If Not for Profit, for What? (1983) was reissued in digital format by the Georgia State University Library.
